Broughton House

Broughton House was originally founded under the name East Lancashire Home for Sailors and Soldiers in 1916 to care for soldiers and sailors who had been injured during the First World War.

As a much loved institution of Greater Manchester and the North West of England, we have been honoured to have cared for many veteran heroes within our care home.  To date, we have served over 8,000 veterans and each veteran and their family in turn has become part of the Broughton House family.  With over 500,000 veterans estimated to be living in the North West and 46% of the veterans being over 85, it is vital that we are here for another 100+ years.

The New Veteran Care Village

In the last five years Broughton House has embarked on an ambitious strategic transformation to redevelop its existing site into a dynamic Veteran Care Village delivering a Trinity of services, Nursing and Dementia, Military Hub and outreach services and a Housing solution for Veterans of all ages and all conflicts, and their families.

The new Veteran Care Village has achieved full Planning Permission and the £11.6 million funding for the first of the two phases of the construction (Phase 1a & 1b). Phase 1 will provide a Registered 64 bed Nursing and Dementia facility that will also provide respite and rehabilitation.

Phase 2 will provide up to 24 apartments for younger veterans with work scheduled to commence in 2021, to be finished by March 2022.

The Broughton House Support Hub was established in January 2018 and provides support and assistance for veterans and their families who are transitioning from service to civilian life: ensuring that one point of contact will help them to meet their physical and mental wellbeing, social, employment and education needs.

On behalf of the Residents and Staff of Broughton House, please accept our sincere thanks for supporting Veterans Support UK and in turn supporting Broughton House with your kind donation.

I can confirm Veteran Support UK are working in partnership with Broughton House – Veteran Care Village to raise the vital funds required to provide quality care for our veteran residents.

Your donation plays a large part in our quest to continue to provide the level of care that befits the past generations of ex-service men and women who have seen service in the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy, Royal Marines, the Army and the Royal Air Force.
